Pic 1: The cocoon had split and a beautiful Angle Shades moth finally emerged. I was beginning to think that the moth pupa had died and that my daily breaths of moist air had been in vain. So it is both a relief and surprise to find that the cocoon has made its perilous transition to maturity and that the emerged moth will soon be released on its dangerous journey to hopefully find a mate before completing its life cycle.
Pics 2-4: A recently emerged Angle Shades resting on moss covered rock. Captured with two diffused flashes.
Pic 5: Recently emerged Angle Shades starting to vibrate his wings in order to warm-up its metabolism prior to take- off!
